The Huntsville Tigers’ all-women coaching staff is bringing a wealth of experience and innovation to the field, significantly elevating the teams performance.  With a strong background in both tackle and flag football, the coaches are well-equipped to guide the Tigers to success.

Experienced Leadership

Leading the charge is Carmela Sullivan, who has been the head coach of the Tigers since 2011.  She focuses on the defensive side of the ball, working closely with fellow coach Carmelesia Sullivan, who commands the offense.  Together, these sisters have led the Tigers for over 10 years.  Their expertise extends beyond the Tigers, including three years coaching the girls’ flag football team at Bob Jones High School.  Under their guidance, the high school team has enjoyed consecutive winning season, fostered young talent, and promoted the sport among female athletes.

A Proven Track Record

In 2019, the Tigers coaching staff took on the challenge of helping lead a men’s team, the Redstone Raiders.  These two women helped steer the team all the way to the championship game.  This accomplishment not only highlights their strategic mindset but also their ability to adapt and motivate players across different levels of competition.

Innovative Training Methods

The coaching staff’s approach combines traditional techniques with modern strategies, focusing on player development and game intelligence. Emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and resilience, they have created a supportive environment that encourages players to excel both on and off the field.

As the Tigers prepare for their return to the AWFL in 2025, the coaching staff’s influence is evident in the team’s renewed vigor and focus.  Practices are designed to build both physical and mental strength, ensuring the players are all-prepared for the challenges ahead.  They also stay abreast of the latest techniques and methods to ensure player safety as well as player development.
